How to get the most out of your business credit card?

Every business man wants to opt for a business credit card at the earliest. Very often business owners tend to overlook certain points while opting for a business credit card. Some people are so impatient that they grab the first offer that comes their way. Being impatient won’t help, as the first deal that comes your way might not be that good. Choosing the best business credit card is a challenging task and it will be easier if you follow the tips given below.

  1. Be Choosy and Selective:
In case you are running a small business then you will receive a new business credit card offer every few days. The promotional offers might be very tempting but you have to control yourself and not jump to it. You have to be strong and not give in to temptation. Jumping from one card to another will not help you. Find out about the various credit cards and offers and stick to the ones that meet your requirement the best. If you are interested in applying for the credit card just because of the promotional offer and have planned to cancel the card after the expiry of the offer then you are risking the credit worthiness and credit rating of your business. It is best to be selective and only apply for cards that meet your requirement.
  2. Nothing better than your current bank:
We often overlook the choices that we get close to home and it turns out that those choices were the best choices. Applying for a business credit card from the bank where you have your business account is the easiest and best choice. There might not be any promotional offers to tempt you but you will gain in the future. Having a business credit card from your bank can prove to be an advantage in the long run. You can prove your worth when you pay your credit card bills on time and it will be easier for you to approach the bank if you want a business loan in the future. The bank will be more receptive and welcoming as you will have a good track record.
  3. Maintain your Cash flow:
Most credit card companies offer a 21 day grace period, by using this grace period you can get a few more days to pay your bills. Make sure you pay your dues within the due date as afterwards all the advantages you gained will be null and void. Keep a track of your billing cycles and your due dates to make the most of this facility.
  4. Be Responsible:
Always be responsible while using your business credit card. Pay all your dues in time to avoid late payment fees and excess finance charges. Do not use cash advance as the fees and the interest will easily accumulate. Always make it a point to use only 50% of your credit limit as over charging might risk the credit worthiness of your business.

A business credit card can be a great advantage for the business only when used wisely.
